Low Iodine Diet

I began my low iodine diet this morning which will last a week (if they call me this week to have my procedure done next week) and two weeks, or three weeks even, if they don't. So breakfast this morning was real oatmeal w/ a sprinkle of brown sugar.

I did not sleep at all last night. By one a.m. I was still awake. Told myself and my sleeping husband, out loud, that being awake at one a.m. was ridiculous. He snored on and I turned over again, for the thousandth time and tried to sleep, to no avail.

This week from 9-12 is my do stuff around the house. Be productive. So I'm getting off the computer now (because it's already after 9) and go be productive.

Gratitude

My church has 7 services on 3 campuses and we happen to attend the 5pm service on Saturday night at the main campus so I've already been to church, bible study, and slept in until 9am. How's that gratitude for you?

That isn't where I was going with this post...bear with me.

Anyways, the sermon last night was on Faith. While normally sermons are intended to be milk for the average attendee (you get your solid food from say bible studies); our sermons are usually milk laced with rice or wheat cereal. Come on you know what I mean? Your baby is growing and they need more than just milk so you add abit of cereal to the milk - and hope they start sleeping through the night.

That isn't where I was going with this post...bear with me.

Anyways, the sermon last night was on Faith and it was a pretty meaty sermon - for a sermon. And I just wanted to give thanks that, while I can't live on sermons alone, the sermons our pastor(s) preaches have sustinence to them. We are in a sermon series called 'Forged'. I love that image of 'forged' iron and the time it takes to 'forge' a sword; the dedication; the heat; the fire; the patience; the care, the pain; Anyways, just wanted to share. Here is the introduction to Forged:

When a blacksmith shapes iron, he heats then strikes it to produce intricate art. Beauty emerges through work and pain. Our faith is shaped in the same way. Strength comes in painful times and insights in moments of intensity. Don’t miss our current sermon series on the hard-hitting, intense book of James, which challenges us to match our faith walk with our talk, to stand tested and true, forged by faith.

If you'd like to enjoy, take in, relish in, seek out, our sermon's you can go to Savannah Christian's website and listen in or download on itunes. (Unfortunately yesterday's sermon isn't up yet); You can also study the book of James...Is your faith dead, or is it dynamic? Dead faith is empty claims, faulty compassion, and shallow commitments; it's all talk; you respond to trials with worry; or you might blame God. If you have a faith that doesn't move you to honor God that faith is dead. But, Dynamic faith is observable. It's obvious. The fruit of our faith is evident in our lives. You don't have to worry because you have a dynamic faith in God. The action of trusting and not worrying is honoring God.

So I'm thankful for the preaching that goes on at our church. That's where I was going with this post.

Wind and Rain and Chilly

That is our day here in Savannah. And I love it. Makes me want to snuggle up with a book and, drink a cup of coffee, or tea, or hot cocoa, and wrap up in a blanket (unfortunately I have sooo much to do). Tonight is homemade pizza night and movies. Perfect for the weather too. We'll watch something like Stargate SG-1 (I think we're on the 2nd season again), or some kid friendly, action movie.

I enjoyed a lunch date with Hoosier Man today. I drove out to his work, picked him up, and we went to Jalapenos for Tacos de Carne Asada. Very nice lunch and time with my hubby.

Thought this picture was really cool. Jarrod is front/left and John is back/left. The picture is of one of three races the boys participated in last weekend at the Boy Scout Camporee. As Webelos John and Jarrod and the rest of the Webelos Den were invited to the camporee with the Boy Scouts. The boys got such a kick out of racing, taking 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes. (The funniest part though is they were racing against themselves for the prizes). It didn't deter them from having a blast and putting all their effort into the race - errr - run.

Quiet weekend ahead.

Things

1. Dusting my scraproom. Long process because I still get tired easily. By the time I finish though what I've already dusted will be dusty again.

2. Starting another gift today. Picking out the scrap papers. Putting the outside together. The inside will be a longer process.

3. If you are not studying the Word of God and allowing God to change you from the inside out He does not delight in you. If all you are is superficial, outward righteousness then you are not righteousness that comes from God.

4. Did I get you thinking? Or did I make you mad?

5. Waiting on an appointment for the last procedure to finish this cancer time

6. I love the fall weather that is upon us today. Thank you Lord.

7. Robert Guest's letters to his kids. Imagine if you would just do this even once a month, or even once a year.

8. Yum! recipes   And while you're at it read her love story.

9. Patchville is coming up next week. One of the talented high schoolers from our church made this video to let people know about it. It is our churches big fall outreach for kids. Jeff and I are both serving (in different capacities) so Elizabeth will take the boys around, along with Ella.

10. Have you done this today?

11. Scroll down through my friend Jamie's blog post (Jamie used to own Savannah Scrapbooking) and check out the wall in her new scraproom. How cool is that!!!!!

12. My hubby sent me this via email while he was at work. It'll finish off my 'things' post because I can't top it!!!

Shrek, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Lopez were all having lunch together.

Shrek said, 'I have always thought that I'm the strongest man in the world, but how can I be sure?

Brad Pitt said, 'I'm pretty sure I'm the hottest man alive but I've never had it confirmed.'

Jennifer Lopez agreed. 'I'm told I'm the sexiest of them all, but sometimes I wonder.'

They all decided that the best way to find out if their beliefs were true was to approach the wicked Queen's mirror to confirm for them whether Shrek was the strongest, Brad Pitt was the hottest and Jennifer Lopez was the sexiest.

They agreed to meet again the next day for lunch to discuss their findings.

The next day Shrek walked up with a smile. 'Well, it's true. The mirror told me that I am the strongest man in the world.'

Brad Pitt followed and boasted, 'It is true, it has been confirmed that I am the hottest man alive!!'

Jennifer Lopez walked in, head bent, tears in her eyes and asked," Who the heck is Susan Bowers???

Year in Review

I've been doing so much digital scrapbooking lately (well - gifts anyway) that I decided to do some year in reviews. I started with 2008. Over a year ago I saved some digital layouts for a year in review scrapbook that I loved and thought I'd scraplift. Haven't found anything that I like more (things I like but not more than this idea) so thought I'd start with that. I have completed January through May already (yesterday and today). Of course I won't be able to finish 2008 but I'll be mostly done and then can finish up Oct- Dec at the end of the year and Voila! a year long scrapbook. Here is a sample from May. Each two page layout is a patterned paper and matching plain paper. The left hand side is exactly the same on each two page and the right has a little variation depending on how many pictures I use.  The month is identified on all the left pages and the 'happenings' on the right.

Year in Review Project

Pretty cool, huh?

Jeff and the boys head out tonight for a Cub Scout joining the Boy Scouts camp out. But first - tonight they'll be getting a fun filled night. Check this outIt's the Boy Scout Camporee. S.W.A.T. demonstration, firefighter demonstrations, JCB tractor routines, and more. The boys' are goin' have a blast. A campout with the Boys Scouts is a must for the boy's to earn their Arrow of Light to be able to crossover to a Boy Scout.

I've got bible study this weekend so I can't go. But my daughter #3 is visiting this weekend so I'll have a blast too!

Home from Ft Stewart

Another trip to the emergency room; John has an upper respitory infection; hopefully we caught it before it goes to broncitis or pnuemona. I'm still very weak from surgery and my attack of broncitis. How weak? I straightened the couch cover before small group last night and about passed out out from over exertion and experienced difficult breathing. This stuff is for the birds.

On another not so good note: my dear hubby informed me (he heard it at church from two different people who went through it) that the radioactive iodine flush I'm supposed to have done is not going to be a walk in the park. Lovely.

On a good note: finished up my first Christmas gift of the year.

Proud

I remember these days. Brad is blessed to have Ashley stand beside him while he is promoted to Senior Airman (an E-4).

DSC_0025

I remember the days of promotion and the feelings I had. On the one hand excited. On the other hand more responsibility and wondering if I'll live up to it. When I was in the Air Force there was another rank in there to attain. Sergeant (E-4). You were an NCO. A Non-Commissioned Officer. No more pay. Just more responsibility. I liked this 'bridge' rank. It gave someone some growing room before the coveted E-5, Staff Sergeant. To make Staff Sergeant you have to test for it (along with other variables). The career field you were in was the problem here. The more difficult the career field, the hard the test. My career field was number three in difficulty back then. Making Staff Sergeant in the career field of Weather you were hot stuff. It is so different now...but nonetheless I am very proud of Brad. I am proud that he can effectively take care of my daughter and grandson. I am proud that he has the drive and a plan in place for moving forward. Congrats, my son.

Christmas presents

I started a christmas present today for someone on my list. I am making it and it will take a few days to finish it. Someone will be getting this sneak peak...

Sneak peek 1

but I'm not telling who is getting it, or what it is. Suffice to say, I'm very excited about it. Oh, and this person is getting something else too - that I'm making. Aren't you just chomping at the bit wondering if it's you or not? Anyways, it's a Christmas present which means there are 79 days until someone finds out. Isn't this fun????
