one little word 2014 | focus

I have shared my One Little Word for 2014 is FOCUS. But, until now I haven't shared the details. I wasn't sure I was going to. The years I have chosen a word to focus on and the years I've just let that word be apart of my life in the background, in the forefront, marinating, ruminating in my thoughts my word has come alive all year. The years I have joined a group of others who are participating in focused-activities about their words I've allowed my word to get away from me.

So, this year I wasn't sure how much I wanted to share. I definitely am not participating in the One Little Word class - officially. But, because I've participated loosely other years the materials are still available to me from the classes and I might use them to move my word to another level - if I feel I need to. For right now, I'm just going to concentrate on FOCUS-ing.

I knew when selecting my word it was because I needed some FOCUS in some areas of my life. Here is how I'm hoping my One Little Word - FOCUS will be active in my life:

FOCUS on growing my spiritual health...through prayer, an accountability partner, bible studies, acts of service, and fellowship with other believers. I want to attempt to memorize the book of James. Focus on prayer. Find an accountability partner to - ah - hold me accountable. And, spend more time studying the word of God.

FOCUS on a healthier lifestyle. I need to move more through walks and swims. I need to find my way back to the pool on Hunter. I can walk at work. I want to FOCUS on losing another 20 pounds this year. This is a solidly, doable achievement. But, it won't happen if I don't move. I need to FOCUS my eating attention on vegetables and fruits which are sorely lacking as of late.

FOCUS on my 50 in my 50th year list. Seriously. I made this list because I wanted things I could 'accomplish' in my 50th year. Some are hard core, like memorizing the book of James or going on a mission trip. Some are super simple - like roast a chicken. I have some good stuff on that list that I would love to say - well done - when I turn 51.

FOCUS on gratitude. This is such a big part of my life these past couple of years that I really want to find a way to push it up a couple notches. Not sure how I can do this yet, but I'd like to find a way. Having an attitude of gratitude has allowed me to find such an amazing peace and contentment whatever my situation. It's just a really good part of a good life.

FOCUS on creating more. I want to make things usable. I want to make things to gift to others. I want to create scrapbooking projects. A big hinderous to creativity is clutter and disorganization so I'll need to FOCUS on tackling those issues in my home first.

There it is. FOCUS in a nutshell. I'm very interested to see where my One Little Word will take me.
