Prayers for my husband from his head to his feet | Day 20

Prayers for his faithfulness

You, O Lord, are compassionate and gracious. You are abounding in love and faithfulness (Psalm 86:15); faithful and obedient even to death on a cross (Philippians 2:8). Teach my husband your way of faithfulness with an undivided heart to You, and to our marriage (Psalm 86:11).

Lord, you promise to preserve those who are faithful and stand for truth (Psalms 31:22) not letting them come to ruin. Teach my husband to be faithful and courageous, standing for what is right and true in Your eyes (Psalm 33:4). May his love and faithfulness for our marriage, and for me, stand fast (Psalm 85:10). Help him put on the full armor of God to stand firm against the enemy’s schemes (Ephesians 6:11). I pray he will be on his guard, standing firm in faith, against anything that would ruin his reputation or ruin the trust of those around him (1 Corinthians 16:13). I pray our marriage and our home will never be divided against itself because a marriage or home divided cannot stand (Mark 3:25).

I pray my husband is prudent and sees dangers that lurk openly and the dangers that are hidden (Proverbs 27:12). I pray he resists all adulterous temptations, fleeing from them as his life depends on it, running to You, instead: I pray he resists the temptation to indulge in pornography, resists entertaining immoral or impure thoughts, resists inappropriate relationships, resists flirting with the opposite sex; no temptation can overtake my husband except what is common to man. God, who is faithful, will not let him be tempted beyond what he can bear and He will always provide a way out. And when He does, I pray my husband takes it and runs to You (1 Corinthians 10:13)!

As Your love for my husband reaches to the heavens and Your faithfulness to him stretches to the skies (Psalm 57:10) so I pray will my husband’s commitment to his wedding vows to me be proven through love and faithfulness.

Father God, You have said anyone who has been entrusted with something, must prove himself faithful (1 Corinthians 4:2). I pray my husband is a man who proves himself faithful in small things, in things unseen, neither conceals things nor hides things for they will be made known, but that he be trusted and found faithful for greater things (Luke 12:2). So, I pray he chooses the way of faithfulness and sets his heart on that which is good and right, holding fast to his marriage covenant, and not let him, or me, be put to shame (Psalm 119:30-31). But, that he, with this in mind, be established as a man worthy of his calling, and that by the power of the Holy Spirit in him he may bring to fruition every desire for goodness and every deed prompted by faithfulness (2 Thessalonians 1:11).

I pray Lord, in view of Your mercy, my husband does not conform to the worlds standards and the worlds ideas of faithfulness but may he be transformed by the renewing of his mind so that he may know Your good, pleasing, and perfect will for his life and our marriage (Romans 12:1-2).

In the mighty Name of Jesus, I pray.

Prayers for my husband from his head to his feet | Day 19

Prayers for his morning

When my husband rises in the morning, just give him Jesus.

I pray my husband rises and awakens with joy that comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5b) because when he lay down at night he was not afraid and his sleep was sweet (Proverbs 3:24).

I pray, O Lord, Your compassion - that never fails and that is new every morning and Your faithfulness that is great be upon my husband and consumes him (Lamentations 3:2-3).

In the morning, Lord, I pray my husband approaches Your throne of grace and that You hear my husband’s voice; and may he lay his requests before you, bowing down in reverence before You, and waiting expectantly (Psalm 5:3,7).

In the morning when my husband rises may he sing praises of Your strength and love; for You are his God; You are his fortress; in You my husband can find refuge in times of trouble (Psalm 59:16-17).

Each morning, I pray that in reverence, his whole heart is opened and turned towards You, O Lord (Joel 2:12) and that he is strong and courageous as he approaches his day and faces the world, knowing with every step You are with him (Joshua 1:9) and,

When my husband rises in the morning may he set the LORD before him and because He is his right hand may he not be shaken (Psalm 16:8).

As the sun rises and morning dawns (Psalm 65:8) I pray that my husband be a light, as bright as the sun, in the dark world and that when others see him and his good deeds, they see You Lord in him (Matthew 5:14,16).

Each day I pray my husband walks in wisdom as he is confronted with unbelievers and he makes the most of opportunities to share the gospel with them. I pray his words would always be gracious, seasoned with salt, always ready to give an answer to those he meets (Colossians 4:5-6).

I pray my husband confronts each day with the blessed assurance of peace for his day; not the world’s peace, but the peace that passes all understanding and that will guard his heart and mind; that it not be troubled nor that he will fear what he will face throughout the day (Philippians 4:6; John 14:27).

Fill my husband with your love as he goes about his day. Help him to be kind and patient and not selfish or easily provoked with those You put in front of him and enable him to endure all things he is confronted with (1 Corinthians 13:4-5,7).

In the morning O Lord, as my husband faces the myriad of tasks and the hectic of his work day, may Your Holy Spirit come and hover over him, speaking order and promise out of the chaos of his day just as the Spirit of God hovered over the waters creating order and promise (Genesis 1:2) and that God will work out his day for good, because my husband loves You (Romans 8:28). In Jesus’ Name.

Continuing my series praying scriptures over my husband and for my husband from his head to his feet...and everything in between. You can find all my prayers, so far, at 31 Days of Prayers for My Husband.

Prayers for his spirituality

Lord God, I pray that my husband will grow spiritually, in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18) and be accountable before the Lord. I pray that he will guard his heart, developing spiritual disciplines: reading and studying the Word of God, prayer and meditation, and memorizing the Word; because everything he does flows from his heart (Proverbs 4:23). I pray he seeks the Lord while He may be found and calls Him while He is near. Let him turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on my husband. And this Word that my husband reads, and studies, and meditates, and memorizes, I pray, will go out from him, accomplish what You desire, achieve Your purpose, and will not return empty (Isaiah 55:6-7,11). Cultivate in my husband Your Word, Your knowledge, and Your Truth and a heart for prayer.

I pray my husband is strong and very courageous and is careful to live in obedience to Your Word, O Lord; this Word - that gives life and freedom; and, that he does not turn from your Word, to the right or to the left; so that he may be successful, and live in quiet, confidence, and peace wherever he goes. I pray he keeps Your Word always on his lips; meditates on it day and night, and I pray he does not just read or listen to the word but that he is careful to do what it says. Then he will be prosperous and successful (Joshua 1:7-8; Isaiah 32:17; James 1:22-25). Cultivate in my husband a heart for obedience to Your Word.

Lord, I pray my husband has an eternal perspective, seeking first Your kingdom and Your righteousness (Matthew 6:33) and that he loves You, O Lord with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength (Deuteronomy 6:5) not as unwise but as wise, making the most of how he lives, of every opportunity You place before him (Ephesians 5:16). I pray my husband will be a man who rejoices always, and is a man who prays, oh Lord, let him pray (James 5:13); and giving thanks in all circumstances for this is God's will for his life (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). Cultivate in my husband a heart of prayer and thanksgiving.

I pray my husband surrenders his time and eagerly desires to use his spiritual gifts for You, O Lord. I pray these gifts are manifested in his life and are used for Your glory in the most excellent way whether he is at work, at church, at home or in our community (1 Corinthians 12:7,31). Cultivate in my husband his spiritual gifts and surrendering those gifts to You.

I pray my husband listens to godly advice, accepts godly discipline, and maintains a healthy fear of the Lord so that he will be counted as wise, so Your purpose will prevail in his life, and so he finds rest and contentment (Proverbs 19:20-23). And I pray my husband renews his mind and You would give my husband wisdom so that he may know what is Your good, pleasing, and perfect will is for his life (Romans 12:2). Cultivate in my husband a fear of You - and wisdom.

Prayers for my husband from his head to his feet | Day 17

Prayer for His Work

Thank you, Lord that my husband works with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. I pray that whatever he does at work he works as if working for the Lord; his allegiance is not with human masters but the Lord and that he’ll find his inheritance from the Lord as his reward for serving others (Colossians 3:22-24).  I pray my husband can find a healthy, balanced work life, submitting his work schedule to You, and that all his hard work will bring a profit and the work of his hands will bring him reward (Proverbs 16:23; Proverbs 12:14) but help him to see there is no reward for overworking (Proverbs 23:4-5).

I pray that you continue to establish his work, securing his success, making his work satisfying, financially sound, and rewarding. I pray he does not lag in diligence but instead is fervent in spirit, serving the Lord (Romans 12:11). Let him, at work, be like a tree planted by the stream of living water which brings forth fruit in due season. May he never wither under pressure, but grow strong and prosper in all the work of his hands (Psalm 1:3).

I pray my husband gives generously to others from the fruits of his labors and does so without a grudging heart; and may You, O Lord bless him in all his work and everything he puts his righteous hand to. I pray his hand is opened to those who are poor and in need (Deuteronomy 15: 10-11).

As God is able to bless abundantly, so that in all things at all times, my husband has all that he needs to abound in every good work (2 Corinthians 9:8). I urge my husband to make it his ambition to lead a quiet, simple life, minding his own business, removing himself from gossip or coarse talk, working hard with his hands, a labor prompted by love, so that he may win the respect of others and that he’ll be dependent on anybody except the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 1:3; 4:11-12) and to do his best to present himself to God as one approved, a work who does not need to be ashamed and correctly handles truth (2 Timothy 2:15).

Father God, so as my husband is prepared for the work You have for him may he always seek the Word of God which is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness and so that it will thoroughly equip him for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17). I pray that my husband is like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding fruit of his labors, developing his skills that grow more valuable with each year and prospering in whatever he does (Psalm 1:3).

Finally Lord, I pray my husband knows without a shadow of doubt that he can do all things through Christ who gives him strength (Philippians 4:13).

Prayers for my husband from his head to his feet | Day 16

Prayers for my husbands' legs...

Thank you Lord that my husband walks by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). May he use every piece of Your armor to resist the enemy whenever Satan attacks, so when it is over he will be standing up under it (Ephesians 6:13). Help him to lay aside every weight, and the sins which trip him up so he can run with patient endurance the race You have set before him (Hebrews 12:1). Help my husband to walk with and claim fellowship with Jesus, walking in the light of Jesus and not in the darkness, and to fellowship with other believers, walking in truth and not lies and being purified by the blood of Jesus (1 John 1:7-8) for one walking in truth gives You no greater joy (3 John 1:4).

Father God, You count a man blessed is he who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. I pray your Holy Spirit guide and direct my husband away from unwise counsel, that he not participate or sit with those looking to do evil, and that he be courageous, fleeing from temptations (Psalm 1:1). I pray my husband walk in the way of Godly wisdom and insight, setting aside foolishness, immaturity, and ignorance (Proverbs 9:6) and that he seeks and finds wise people to walk beside so that he will become wise, and not the foolish and get in trouble (Proverbs 13:20).

I pray my husband follows the Lord's example as a dearly loved child and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved him and gave himself up for him as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God (Ephesians 5:1-2). And, that he walk in obedience to all that the Lord God has commanded, so that he may live and prosper and with prolonged days (Deuteronomy 5:33). I pray my husband stands at the crossroads and asks You, O Lord where the good way is, and then walks in it, and so, finds rest for his soul (Jeremiah 6:16). And what is it that you require of my husband, O Lord; but to fear the Lord God, to walk in obedience to Him, to love Him, to serve the Lord with all his heart and with all his soul (Deuteronomy 10:12) and to teach His commands to his children, talking about them when he sits at home and when he walks along the road, when he lies down and when he gets up (Deuteronomy 11:19).

May his walk be worthy of the calling which You have called him; walking with all lowliness and gentleness, with long-suffering, and bearing with all people in love (Ephesians 4:1-2). Because, Lord, the one whose walk is blameless, who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from their heart...whoever does these things will never be shaken (Psalm 15:2-5). In Jesus' Name.

Prayers for my husband from his head to his feet | Day 15

Prayer for his Safeguard and Protection from the enemy

I pray my husband will receive the commands and teachings of the Lord, clothing himself with the Lord Jesus Christ, putting on the armor of light and the corrections of discipline as his way to life; I pray these will be a safeguard to his heart against immoral and inappropriate relationships with the opposite sex that prey and seek to destroy him (Proverbs 6:23-24; Romans 13:12-14). Heavenly Father, I pray my husband is sober-minded and alert because his enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking to devour him (1 Peter 5:8). And, that he puts on your protective armor, the full armor of God, so that he may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:11-18).

I pray that my husband will walk humbly and be quick to agree with the Lord about his sins and that he desires and will stand for truth and justice (Psalm 51: 2,6) always tendering a merciful heart toward the voice of the Lord, acknowledging what He requires of my husband (Micah 6:8).

I pray my husband makes the Most High his dwelling place and rest in the shadow of the Almighty for then he will be saved from the enemy’s snare and no harm will overtake him and disaster will not come near his home or workplace. I pray Lord You command Your angels concerning my husband to guard him in all his ways (Psalm 91:1-11). Keep watch over my husband, over his comings and his goings: to and from work, his workplace, his health, his home; protect him from all harm (Psalm 121:7-8). Protect him from violence and oppression, and injustice and mistreatment. I stand in the gap before You O Lord, on behalf of my husband (Ezekiel 22:29-30) asking for a hedge of protection around him, his family, and everywhere he goes (Job 1:10).

May love and faithfulness never leave my husband; bind them around his neck, write them on the tablet of his heart that his name and reputation will be preserved, finding favor with man and in the sight of God (Proverbs 3:3-4). I pray he walks in the ways of good men and keeps to the paths of the righteous, guarding his heart above all things (Proverbs 2:20; 4:23). I pray he uses sound judgement and discernment for this will protect and guard my husband from the perverse and wicked men, the seductive adulteress, and the crooked and devious paths of destruction and death (Proverbs 2:11-18).

Let my beloved O Lord rest secure in You, shielding him all day long and because You love him may he rest between Your shoulders (Deuteronomy 33:12). Deliver him from his enemies who seek to ensnare him, from violent people who want to do him harm. Remind him that You, O Lord, are his Rock; You are his Fortress, his Deliverer; in You he can find refuge; You’re his shield and the horn of his salvation. You are his stronghold (2 Samuel 22:1-3). Praise You, Jesus! It is in Your Name I pray.

Prayers for my husband from his head to his feet | Day 14

Pray for discernment...

Father God, give my husband a discerning heart to know Your great love for him and the great plans You have for him and our family. Plans to prosper and not to harm, to give us hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Help my husband to trust in You with all his heart, to not lean on his own understanding, but acknowledge You in all his ways, so he may discern what direction he should take for himself and for our family (Proverbs 3:5-6).

You have said, O Lord, “I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life so that you and your children may live, and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to Him and hold fast to Him” (Deuteronomy 30:19-20). Father, I pray You move my husband’s discerning heart to choose life and blessing every single day. I pray You move his heart discern Your instruction, knowledge and wisdom instead of earthly riches and selfish gain (Proverbs 8:10). Happy, blessed, and admired is the man who seeks and finds godly wisdom and the man who gains understanding and discernment from the Word of God and learns from experience (Proverbs 3:13).

Father, give my husband boldness and courage as he assumes the role of father, husband, businessman & leader. Help him to filter and sift through [all evil], with spiritual eyes and godly discernment, as he leads our home (Proverbs 20:8). Teach him good judgment, discernment, and knowledge as he believes, trusts, and relies on You, O Lord (Psalm 119:66).

Through my husband, I pray, spreads everywhere the sweet fragrance of the knowledge of Christ; that my husband is the sweet fragrance of Christ [which ascends] to God, and discernible among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing;  to the latter one a fatal, offensive odor, but to the other a living, fresh, life-giving aroma (2 Corinthians 2:14-16).

Give him discernment when temptation is waiting to ambush him. I pray he does not stumble and does not want to stumble into that which will snare him into sin. Help him to preserve sound judgment and discernment and not to let them out of his sight - for this brings him life. I pray he can discern between the way that seems right but leads to death and the right way that brings life. I pray his confidence is in you and you are able to keep his feet from being snared (Proverbs 2:11-12; Proverbs 3:3; Proverbs 2:12-26; Proverbs 4:23).

And Lord, I pray my husband walks carefully, living life with honor, purpose, and courage; shunning those who tolerate and enable evil, with all wisdom and discernment making the very most of his time on earth, and taking advantage of each opportunity, using it with wisdom and discernment, because the days are filled with evil. I pray he not be foolish and thoughtless, but discerning and firmly grasp what the will of the Lord is (Ephesians 5:15-17). In Jesus' Holy and Precious Name.

Prayers for my husband from his head to his feet | Day 13

Pray for his hands...

I pray, O Lord, that my husband will continue to bless You as long as he lives, lifting up his hands to You in prayer (Psalm 63:4) for You desire men everywhere to pray with holy hands lifted up to You, free from sin, anger, and resentment (1 Timothy 2:8). Lord, I know you want my husband to stand in your holy place, to have clean hands and a pure heart. May You cause him to lift up his soul to you and receive your blessing. As he seeks your face and lifts his hands in praise may you lift up the gates of my husband's heart that You, the King of glory, might come in and rule his life with strength and might (Psalm 24).

I pray that whatever my husband's hands find to do, whether he is at home, at his job, or elsewhere, as long as it lines up with Your will, then he will be led to do it with all of his might, working as if working for the Lord, and gaining your favor (Ecclesiastes 9:10, Colossians 3:23).

I pray my husband never lets go of you, holding onto you continually as You remind him that you hold his right hand and guide him with your counsel. Even though his flesh may be weak, or fail, You are the strength of his heart and his portion forever (Psalm 73: 23-26).

May my husband always know with certainty the power and the strength of his hands have never and will never produce wealth for him, but always remember it is the Lord God, who gives him the abilities, power and strength (Deuteronomy 8: 17-18). I pray with those abilities, power, and strength my husband works [ with his hands] with all diligence and is righteous before You; for You, O Lord will not let the righteous or the lazy hands go hungry; you thwart the cravings of the wicked and bring wealth to diligent hands (Proverbs 10:3-4). I pray my husband has skillful hands and serves his King above all (Proverbs 22:29).

I pray he willingly opens his arms to the poor and extends his hands to the needy (Proverbs 31:20). I pray he serve wholeheartedly, as if he were serving the Lord and not people, because the Lord will reward whatever good he does (Ephesians 6: 7-8). I pray he always obtains the favor of the Lord in whatever the work of his hands devise (Proverbs 12:2). In Jesus' Name, I pray.

Prayers for my husband from his head to his feet | Day 12

Pray for humility...

I pray my husband worships you in humility; that he enter's Your gates with thanksgiving and Your courts with praise; giving thanks to You and praising Your name. For You Lord are good and your love endures forever; Your faithfulness continues through all generations (Psalm 100:4-5). I pray, in humble gratitude, my husband lets the word of Christ dwell in him richly as he teaches and admonishes others with all wisdom, and as he sings psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in his heart to God (Colossians 3:16). I pray, with an abandoned heart, my husband does not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but makes himself nothing, with all humility, and serves Christ through others (Philippians 2:6-7). Like Jesus did, I pray my husband, with an obedient heart, humbles himself and becomes obedient to the will of God (Philippians 2:8), even unto death.

I pray Lord my husband does not allow pride to overcome him, for that will only bring him disgrace; instead, I pray he has a humble spirit which will bring him wisdom (Proverbs 11:2). As humility is the fear of the Lord and its wages are riches and honor and life (Proverbs 22:4), I pray Lord my husband has a healthy fear of You, O Lord, full of reverence and awe. Following after You, I pray my husband rides forth victoriously for the cause of truth, humility and justice (Psalms 45:4).

I pray O Lord, my husband seeks after You, seeks righteousness and humility, and perhaps, O Lord, You will shelter him against wrath (Zephaniah 2:3). And Lord, that my husband would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but, with humility value others above himself, not looking after his own interests but to the interests of others (Philippians 2:3-4). For You O Lord oppose pride but give grace to the humble (1 Peter 5:5)

As one chosen by You, holy and dearly loved, I pray my husband clothe himself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. I pray, in humility, he relinquishes any bitterness or grudge against another and with the grace and mercy You lavished on him give him the power to forgive (Colossians 3:12-13). I pray that my husband heaps good deeds done in humility on others showing himself wise and understanding (James 3:13). I pray also he wisely chooses his words, being careful to not boast for that is never good and is not worthy of the Lord (1 Corinthians 5:6). Let someone else praise him, and not by his own mouth (Proverbs 27:2), but if his must boast may his boast be in the Lord (1 Corinthians 1:31).

As Jesus was the servant of all and He made Himself of no reputation I pray my husband evaluates his heart and repents of any lack of humility or servant-hood in his life and pray he takes time being humble - and still - before the Lord. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve... (Mark 10:45) in humility. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Prayers for my husband from his head to his feet | Day 11

Pray for his self-control...

Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control (Proverbs 25:28), thus it is better for my husband to be a patient person, one who rules his spirit, than a warrior, one with self-control rather than one who charges in uncontrolled and takes a city (Proverbs 16:32). So I pray Lord for my husbands unwavering self-control. I pray Lord my husband desires nobility and therefore is above reproach, faithful unto me, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, and with a teachable spirit doing so in a manner worthy of full respect (1 Timothy 3:2-4). I pray my husband becomes an A+ student in the school of self-control, listening with the intention of being taught. Teach my husband Your way, Lord, that he may rely on your faithfulness; give him an undivided heart, that he may fear your name (Psalm 86:11).

I pray, O Lord, that you fill my husband with Your Spirit, the Spirit of God that does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline (2 Timothy 1:7) to walk by the Spirit, and not gratify the desires of the flesh, nor do whatever he wants (Galatians 5:16-17) but instead, I pray, he lives by the Spirit bearing such fruit as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, for against such things there is no law (Galatians 5:22-23).

Father God, as my husband is the head of our marriage and our home, I pray he would be worthy of that which You have called him. Remove any traits that are overbearing or quick tempered, may he not be given to drunkenness, violence or pursue dishonest gain. Instead, I pray, he is hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined, trusting Your Word, encouraging others with sound doctrine and refuting those who oppose it (Titus 1: 6-9).

Lord, I pray my husband is a child of the light and a child of the day. May he not be as some who are spiritually asleep, but belonging to the day; may he be sober-minded, alert and self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet (1 Thessalonians 5:5-8).

I pray he makes every effort to add to his faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if my husband possesses these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep him from being ineffective and unproductive in the knowledge of You, O Lord - Jesus Christ (2 Peter 1:5-8). I pray his self-control would grow immeasurably as he pays attention to whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, and whatever is admirable (Philippians 4:8). In the mighty Name of Jesus. Amen.
