Today we celebrate our Independence. I am reminded of the cost of freedom. So many forget that freedom is only available because of someone before them who gave their all. It's my right - but do they remember the cost for that right. So often this flag is trappled, left shattered and torn, abused, burned in the name of freedom - the very freedom for which it represents - how ironic. How sad. Just because it is their right doesn't make it right. But I will remember the cost - I cannot forget. I wear a wristband with the names of Flight 146, 3/160th Nightstalkers, who were KIA on June 28, 2005 in Afghanistan and serves as a reminder of all who gave their all...and my children will know the sacrifice.
We celebrate our Independence Day with a tradition. Year after year. Tradition can be so good. Something you can count on. When our country is so divided, tradition brings stabilization. Gives the kids a foundation. We'll be heading to River Street in Savannah to watch the fireworks. We go hours before and set up chairs and cooler along the river to watch the boats, and the people and to relax.
Blessings to all this Independence Day - and to all those valiant men and women who currently are defending my freedom - I will always remember your sacrifices.
