i saw this on pinterest sometime ago and loved it.
because our refrigerator looks like this i knew something like that would be perfect.
unfortunately when i priced the magnetic clips from staples they were $3.49 for a 3-pack; thus to cover the refrigerater (photos at 6x4) would just be too much money.
so,
for $.97 i bought a package of 50 clothespins and new i would use less than half, so $.50.
i grabbed some scrap scrapbook paper from my stash (i have about a 10 pound stash of paper - seriously!) and trusty modge podge and a scrap of sand paper.
yesterday evening after small group i set myself up a table in front of the television started making refrigerator clothespin magnets.
i'm not done.
i decided this project would be an evening edition project. i did, however, finish five clothespins last night.
1. first i found leftover paper from my stash in a multitude of colors. something with a fairly small pattern. and then cut the paper to clothespin size
2. working in groups of about 5 clothespins i modge podged the clothespins and adhered the papers, pressing down to secure.
3. then i began sanding the edges to 1) give them an aged appearances and 2) to remove any excess paper from the edges
4. i took my roll of magnet and cut pieces to half the size as the clothespin and secured the magnet to the clothespin on the back.
poor picture but voila! finished refrigerator clothespin magnets.
at the end of the week my plan is to have selected photos, have them printed (probably just here at home) and fill my refrigerator. of course we will keep up the missionaries we personally support for reminders to pray and our menu plan for the month that absolutely has to remain for our sanity and security and to keep the peace in the family and to make sure the boys know when hoosier man and i have a date and they will get to be 'home alone' and to remind hoosier man when we have a date and to plan accordingly.
this project was not on my original list of diy craft projects to accomplish this week but it makes for a nice evening routine while i'm watching a show.
