My daughter Ashley and I are back again doing a Bible study together and I am thankful. It has been quite awhile since we've done one together. When she decided to homeschool my grandsons (which is totally another praise because Ian and Wyatt are thriving), Ashley needed to work through that adjustment period of being a homeschool mom. I understand completely! Homeschooling is a huge adjustment. I know this because I homeschooled her brothers from 7th through 12th grade and to go from a working mom to a working and homeschool mom is to say the least - an adjustment.
Now, however, with a semester under her belt, and she's found her groove, we are back for some hardcore studying of the Word. We chose Beth Moore's James, Mercy Triumphs as our come back study. Quite different from Beth's other studies, James offers multiple levels of study.
The first level is simply to watch the videos. The second level is watch the videos and complete the weekly homework. The third level is watch the videos, complete the weekly homework, and handwrite the entire book of James. Beth's daughter joined her in the preparation and research of the study and Beth invited her to write expanded articles which are the 4th level of participation. Finally, level five is watch the videos, complete the homework, handwrite the book of James, read all of Melissa's in-depth articles, and - get this - memorize the book of James.
I have attempted memorizing James in the past when I've studied the book on my own but because I'm studying it with Ashley I'm using her as my accountability and I going for participation level five and attempt to memorize James over the next five months.
I love that we are back studying the Word together but also that we are FaceTiming once a week as well.
