I began to nourish by body using the Keto diet on December 31, 2018 and for the most part I remain faithful to my plan to eat well. While restrictive, the Keto diet allows more grace than say a Whole30 plan but still removes harmful inflammatory and weight gaining enemies from my body. So far, so good! It has been less than 2 1/2 months, I’ve lost 25 pounds and, along with physical therapy, I am seeing a tremendous change in energy levels, emotional output stabilizing, and pain intensity has decreased dramatically. In other words, the way I am nourishing my body is - working! In order to accommodate a life-time change, I have invoked limited freedoms, such as Taco Tuesday and the potential for some out of Keto eating on our date nights (because I didn’t want to limit our dates), which are probably the reason I haven’t lost more weight - however, I have seen a clear difference in the way my clothes fit, much looser, hanging free, and I am pretty close in tops to moving down a size.
It is that evidence that is keeping me moving forward. When the scale doesn’t move - I see a difference in the mirror - and it is enough! One area that I am well aware I need to nourish is movement. I need to move more. I just need to take that step, engage that psychological discipline, because any physical activity begins in the brain - and swim again, get off my butt and walk, begin strengthening exercises, and most importantly keep doing those physical therapy exercises so I can get to a place of no pain! Changes are happening with my nourishing plan! I’ve had pain free days and pain less days - and I have hope again. But, for lasting change, nourishing my body through food and exercise must, no matter how hard it is, must - be long lasting, even a lifetime. And, check this out - lunch times are all about salad! Lots of greens and proteins!
