God STILL places opportunities in front of us to give. We are listening. We are responding. This week's giving was to The Dream Campaign. Man, these people are giving out hope to kids that there dreams can come true. I remember when I first heard from the Dream Campaign and the founder of the ministry said things like, "these kids dream about making it out alive," "getting a job at McDonald's," "getting their GED..."
Because of this ministry the kids are having dreams that are so much bigger!
If one wonders why I am sharing this project it is to 1) be a stone of remembrance. I will be able to look back, as looking back through a journal, and see hand over hand the providence of the Lord. Every page of my album of giving will be simply another way God has blessed us first. Jeff and I have been reading Facing Your Giants by Max Lucado and we recently read Lucado's understanding of why David had picked up five stones to face Goliath. He said one of the stones was so he could remember what God has done. That is first and foremost why I record my giving. I want to remember what God has done; 2) to be an inspiration. If I can inspire others to give, well, then in my giving and inspiring someone else to step out in faith that God will provide, is a double blessing, isn't it? And, 3) It is more blessed to give than it is to receive. It's an old saying. Actually it is a saying that is over 2000 years old. Paul, in Acts 20, is quoting a Jesus saying. And, if Jesus says it I'm listening. 4) Along the lines of remembering, yet more specifically, it is to build up my faith. I can look back in this album and see all the times God has spoken, I have listened, His provisions...simply, the amazing, amazing goodness of God.
