October here in the deep southeastern United States means it is not sweater weather. We're still wearing shorts and tanks and making plans to go to the beach. Over the last couple of weeks we have even held record breaking high temperatures. But, oh how I wish it were - sweater weather that is. And, the fall colors when the leaves change to reds and oranges and yellows. Simply gorgeous. Pumpkins. Pumpkin spice. I can get away with serving pumpkin something, regularly.
To get into the spirit, in hopes of hurrying a fall-like October to arrive here in the south I am setting some goals for the month. Staking down some whole intentions. Laying claim to purposeful and being present and getting things done. This fall, this October I intend to...
Sit out on the front porch. Here is hoping for those cooler temperatures to arrive and the front porch beckons. I have been remiss this past month. Even over the summer I spent more time on the front porch than in September. It is a wonderful place for observations. For reading. For quiet conversation or contemplation.
Decorate my front porch for fall. I have never done this. Decorate the front porch. It needs some fall blooms. Some pumpkins. Some lanterns. Fall-like color to welcome fall.
Finish my big wall. It desperately needs decorating. I have been remiss. I need to remedy that situation. This would include repainting our Jackson Pollack canvas, adding in new colors, filling up white space with the colors of the living room.
Transfer working flash drive to a new thumb drive. Seriously practical application but my working flash drive, that flash drive I have been using for many, many years now, is intermittently not working and I need to replace it, getting everything transferred before I lose all the data. Before the drive fails completely.
Organize my scrap office for December Daily. I decided to create my December Daily project traditional, hybrid, and digital with an actual physical kit(s) and album. This means I'll need a space to scrap. My table needs cleared off. My Christmas stash (or, what I have left) and my new kits need a working home. It needs to be organized and ready for me to scrap. A messy room, a messy closet, messy shelves, unorganized spaces will hinder my forward progress and play.
Refresh my clothes closet. Once again I allowed a year to pass and a few pieces hung in my closet untouched. Then, there are fall-like clothes I need to pair together and pull out of their storage bins replacing some of the more summery clothes, storing them until next year.
Walk more. Move more. Get those steps in. Maybe moving will be the jumpstart to more weight loss instead of the stand still (and slight gain) I am experiencing right now. I wish I could write swim more. But, I cannot wrap my mind around the lengthy drive to the aquatic center after work, the rude 'swimmers' who walk in your lane while you're swimming which causes me to jar my body, the interruptions to a workout because someone else wants your land for their swim lessons (even though you've paid, too), and the long drive home.
