Elizabeth shared some much-needed-to-see photos on Facebook. The day was nice. They went to the park. They had fun. It was evident in the faces of my grandchildren (well, at least the younger two, because Ella appeared to be struggling with boredom, or annoyance. But, then, she's at the age that the park isn't probably her most favorite thing). However, this sweet thing - Sophie - my youngest grandchild looks ecstatic! Gleeful. Joyful. Happy.
Sometimes, oftentimes, it's the simple in life that offer the best for ourselves. Going outside. Experiencing fresh air and sunshine. Moving more. Playing. Laughing. Sophie's smile appears to be filled with giggles and laughter. It makes me giddy - and longing for a time to spend with her - them. Because I miss them so.
When I was Elizabeth's age I was in the military and lived far away from my parent's. It wasn't often that we were able to see each other - the distance, it wasn't a weekend trip. Even weekend trips are hard with kids at any age. I say this because I know exactly how my parents felt, or I imagine they felt living far away from their grandkids. Because, that is me now from mine. It's agonizing.
