Prayers for my husband from his head to his feet | Day 29

Pray for my husband’s legs

Father God, when the enemy, the great deceiver, Satan is prowling after my husband I pray that he will be alert and sober minded (1 Peter 5:8) and that he will put on the whole armor of God so that he may be able to stand against the devil’s schemes and afterwards help him to stand firm in Your strength. (Ephesians 6:11-13)

Thank you Lord for the great cloud of witnesses who surround my husband… Daniel, Joseph, Moses, David, Paul, Peter, John, the beloved…may he throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles him and let him run with perseverance the race marked out for him and fixing his eyes on Jesus as he runs who is the author, the pioneer, the founder and perfecter of his faith (Hebrews 12: 1-2).

And Father, You call those blessed whose ways are blameless and who walk according to Your Word (Psalm 119:1). May my husband walk in the ways of Your Word and run in the paths of Your commands (Psalm 119:1,32)

Instruct my husband in the way of Your wisdom and lead him to walk straight paths. When he walks may his steps not be hampered and when he runs may he not stumble, but may he hold on to Your instruction and to not let go but guard it for his life (Proverbs 4:11-13).

May my husband know You, O Lord are an everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. You will not grow tired or weary, and Your understanding - no one can fathom. You give strength to the weary and increase the power of the weak. Keep my husband from growing tired and weary, or stumbling and falling, but instead, may his hope be in the Lord and renew his strength. May he soar on wings like eagles; may he run and not grow weary, may he walk and not be faint (Isaiah 40: 28-31).

I pray my husband does not set his heart on what he will eat or drink nor worry about it for those of this world run after such things instead I pray he runs, seeking Your kingdom, and those things will be given to him as well (Luke 12:29-31).

Father, I pray my husband runs in such a way to get the prize, the prize You have set before him. May he go into strict training for the crown that will last forever. May he not run aimlessly, but may he strike a blow to his body, making it a slave to the will of the Spirit, preaching the good news of Jesus Christ, so that he will not be disqualified for the prize (1 Corinthians 9: 24-27). In Jesus' Name.

For his marriage

Lord, You have said, 'Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil;' (Ecclesiastics 4:9) may we work together to make our marriage a good work - and a good reward. Let us together pursue what makes for peace in our home and for mutually building each other up rather than tearing down (Romans 14:19). I pray we can find a place of prayer together. I believe a couple who prays together can not help but remain close and stay together. May we confess our faults one to another, and pray for one another, that we may be healed physically, emotionally, spiritually for the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much (James 5:16). 

Jesus gave us the example of how to love so let us love one another like Jesus loved; for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God (1 John 4:7). I pray my husband will love me with affection and sympathy and is not harsh or bitter or resentful toward me (Colossians 3:19). And I pray my husband loves me as Christ loves his Church and gave himself for it (Ephesians 5:25) and that he live - and love - joyfully with me all the days of the life He has given him under the sun (Ecclesiastes 9:9). May my husband's love endure in our marriage for love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. (1 Corinthians 13:7-8). May You, O Lord, make our love increase and overflow for each other (1 Thessalonians 3:12). May my husband love me as himself, and may I see to it that I respect my husband (Ephesians 5:33).

I pray we submit to one another out of reverence for Christ, counting each other more highly than ourselves and look to the interests of each other rather than ourselves (Ephesians 5:21; Philippians 2:3-4). Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting one another...but encouraging each other (Hebrews 10:24-25). May there be peace within the walls of our home (Psalms 122:7). I pray when we open our mouths there is wisdom and kindness is on our lips (Proverbs 31:26). We live to follow your example of service and be a house that serves the Lord (Joshua 24:15). Before we can be of good service to others I pray we do not neglect each other in our own home.

Above all, I pray we guard our hearts for everything we will do flows from it (Proverbs 4:23). In Jesus' Name.

Prayers for his kindness

The Lord has told you, my husband, what is good; and what the Lord requires of you: but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God (Micah 6:8). Spirit lead my husband into loving kindness and mercy. And as Christ is all, and in all may he put on then, as  one chosen by God, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if he has a complaint against another, may he forgive them, he must forgive them as the Lord has forgiven my husband (Colossians 3:11-13).

Let him not be one who withholds kindness from a friend or his brothers so that he may not forsake You, the Lord Almighty (Job 6:14). May he not run away from the poor, or needy, or the brokenhearted but with a heart for You Lord show them kindness where they often find none (Psalm 109:16). May he lead with cords of kindness, with the bands of love, and may he became to others and especially to his family as one who eases the yoke of their burden bending down to meet them - and us - in our need (Hosea 11:4).

I pray my husband pursues righteousness and kindness for it is here he will find life. It is here he will find righteousness. It is here he will find honor (Proverbs 21:21). When he opens his mouth may his words be wise and may kindness be on his tongue (Proverbs 31:26).

And Lord, may my husband not be an obstacle in anyone's way to finding You or living for you, and that no fault will be found in him; but as a servant of God may he be commended with purity, knowledge, patience, kindness, the Holy Spirit, and genuine love; by truthful speech, and the power of God; with the weapons of righteousness for his right hand and for his left (2 Corinthians 6:3-7). Prayers for his gentleness...

Founded on strength and prompted by love may my husband seek the sensitive disposition and kindness of behavior which is gentleness - as that of Christ who came gentle and humble in heart (Matthew 11:29).

Freedom in Christ can be found living in the Spirit; a bearer of fruit will one live in gentleness (Galatians 5:22-23). I pray Lord for my husband to be a gentle giant; a man who pursues righteousness, pursues godliness, faith and love, endures, and pursues gentleness (1 Timothy 6:11). May his gentleness be evident to everyone he comes in contact with so that the Lord may be seen in him (Philippians 4:5).

You have given my husband the shield of Your salvation and Your right hand supports him; may it be Your gentleness in him that makes him great in Your sight, O Lord (Psalm 18:35).

As a chosen man of God, holy and dearly loved, clothe him in such things as compassion, kindness, humility, patience and gentleness (Colossians 3:12).

In his heart may he revere Christ as Lord. May he always be prepared to give an answer to anyone who asks to give a reason for his hope and where it is found, but, that he may do so with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15).

Thank you Lord for the times my husband has been the bearer of a gentle answer (to my sometimes harsh words) because his gentle words yield great power and turns away my wrath (Proverbs 15:1) and may he always gently speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15).

Prayers for my husband's repentant heart

Thank You Father that if my husband confesses his sins, You are faithful and just to forgive his sins and to cleanse him from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Repent, my husband, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, so that times of refreshing from the Lord may come your way (Acts 3:19). Help him to see his sins the way the Lord sees them: as a separation between him and God; and that his sin means God must hide his face from my husband so that he does not hear from him (Isaiah 59:2).

Give my husband a humble spirit of repentance and a softened heart for rest, never concealing his sins but confessing them and turning from them; then he will find mercy and salvation; and with quietness and trust he will find the strength of the Lord (Isaiah 30:15; Proverbs 28:13).  Give him a new heart and a new spirit; remove the stoney parts of my husbands heart and give him a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26). With humility, help him to see clearly Your kind heart, Your forbearance and patience which is meant to lead my husband to repentance (Romans 2:4).

I pray my husband has a fervent desire and thirst for God's Word for man cannot live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). And that it this Word, which is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing my husband to his soul and his spirit, to his joints and his marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of my husband's heart (Hebrews 4:12) that will mete out any undesirable thoughts, words, or deeds. 

Help my husband to see the consequences of sin even before he is tempted and to know transgressions and sin are ever before him. It is against you only, O Lord, that he sins or does evil in your sight so that You may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment (Psalm 51:3-4). I pray Father you speak truth into his life through Your Word, through godly counsel, and through godly men who are faithful to the truth and ready to bring my husband back from his wandering, and save his soul from death (James 5:19–20). I can say without a doubt writing down these prayers for my husband and praying these prayers has significantly changed me. There is nothing quite like praying scripture for my husband to the Lord. Prayers for his joy

Heavenly Father, I pray my husband considers trials as a time of testing of his faith and that he considers this pure joy and let this joy that is the Lord’s be his strength. I pray his faith tested will produce perseverance that finishes its work in my husband that he will become mature and complete, not lacking anything (James 1:2-4; Nehemiah 8:10).

I pray Father that my husband would find consolation and joy in You - even during unrelenting pain, whether the pain he endures is physical, emotional, or spiritual; that he does not deny the words of his Holy God (Job 6:10) so that he will have this joy. Even when he cannot see You, and the work of Your hands, I pray he still believes in you and that he knows you love him; fill him with an inexpressible and glorious joy (1 Peter 1:8).

Your law is perfect O Lord, refresh my husband’s soul. Your statues are trustworthy, make my husband wise. Your precepts are right, give joy to my husband’s heart. Your commands are radiant, give light to his eyes.  The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. Your decrees are firm, and all of them are righteous (Psalm 19:7-9).

Hear Lord, and be merciful to my husband when he cries for help; when work overwhelms him, when our home has strife, when he faces uncertainty and fears. Hear his cries Lord and turn his wailing into dancing. Remove his sackcloth, that which is causing him pain, and, instead, clothe him with joy. Let his heart sing your praises and not be silent, Lord God that he will praise you forever (Psalm 30:10-11).

Your word says that light shines on the righteous and joy on the upright in heart (Psalm 97:11); therefore, bring his heart and his thoughts and his actions around to uprightness and righteousness. Make it the joy of his heart (Psalm 119:111) for You find no greater joy than to hear that my husband is walking in the truth (3 John 1:2).

And Lord, I pray my husband be a source of refreshment into the hearts of believers and that his love for others will be a great joy and encouragement (Philemon 1:7).  As you are able Lord, keep my husband from stumbling, keep him without fault, and keep him with great joy until he is presented into Your glorious presence (Jude 1:24).

Prayers for my husband’s peace

I pray my husband rejoices in the Lord always and that he is gentle and I pray he is not anxious about anything, but in every situation, with prayer and petition and with thanksgiving, my husband present his requests to You, O Lord. And Your peace, which transcends all understanding will guard his heart and his mind in Christ Jesus. I pray he thinks about whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, and anything that is excellent or praiseworthy. Whatever he has learned, or received, or heard from You, O Lord, I pray he puts it into practice; Then, the God of peace will be with him (Philippians 4:6-8).

I pray my husband will submit to You Lord, and be a man of peace and rest, and give him rest from all his enemies on every side and in this way prosperity will come to him (1 Chronicles 22:9; Job 22:21). Give strength to my husband. Help him to turn from evil and do good; I pray he does not just seek peace but pursues it. I pray he loves your Word and does not stumble under it. Bless him with great peace (Psalm 29:11; Psalm 34:14; Psalm 119:165). Keep my husband in Your perfect peace as he remains steadfast and trusts in You (Isaiah 26:3).

I pray true instruction is in his mouth and nothing false is ever found on his lips. I pray he walks with You in peace and uprightness, and turns from any sin (Malachi 2:6). I pray there is no wickedness found in my husband, but only righteousness for there is no peace for the wicked but for the righteous there is peace, quietness and confidence forever (Isaiah 32:17; 48:22).

I pray my husband is a peacemaker; a man who promotes peace in his home, in his work, and in his community for It is to his honor and his blessing that he avoid strife, making every effort to do what leads to peace and building others up according to their needs and so that Your peace will rest on him (Matthew 5:9; 10:13; Luke 10:6; Proverbs 20:3; Romans 14:19; Ephesians 4:29).

Prayers for courage

Has the Lord not commanded? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord our God will be with my husband wherever he goes (Joshua 1:9). Thank you Father for this blessed assurance, for this certainty in an uncertain world, that You O Lord, will be with my husband. I pray he looks to You Lord and waits for You, his God and his salvation. I thank You that You will hear him and that he can rejoice when he falls because You will raise him up and when he sits in darkness, it is Your light, O Lord, that will shine on him (Micah 7:7-8).

Remind my husband again. Whisper loudly, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, because of any unknowns, because of any concerns, because of any fears, for You, O Lord, are his God. You go with him; You will never leave him nor forsake him (Deuteronomy 31:6).

I pray for my husband to be strong and courageous, and do the work You have set before him. I pray he is not afraid of new challenges, new jobs, and that he not get discouraged, for You are with him. Do not fail or forsake my husband until all the work for the service of the Lord is accomplished (1 Chronicles 28:20) and that his courage during perilous times does not melt away (Psalm 107:26).

Surely God is my husband’s salvation; he can trust and not be afraid. The Lord himself is my husbands’ strength and his defense; He has become his salvation (Isaiah 12:2). May he be on guard, standing firm in the faith; may he be courageous; may he be strong (1 Corinthians 16:13); one who is not afraid when faced with hard decisions or difficult situations but doing what is right and keeping a clear conscience. Father, You have not given my husband a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline. Do not let him be ashamed for doing the right thing. And even when he is mocked or ridiculed for doing what is right, I pray those who speak maliciously against his good behavior that is in Christ, may be ashamed of their slander (1 Peter 3:16; 2 Timothy 1:7-8). Remind my husband during these times that as the heavens are higher than the earth, Your ways and thoughts are higher than his (Isaiah 55:8-9) and that Your way and will is good, perfect and pleasing (Romans 12:2b).

Prayers for my husband’s patience

Lord God completely humble my husband’s heart, and with a gentleness that reflects Christ, I pray he is patient with me, his sons, and those around him; bearing up with the love of Christ (Ephesians 4:2), through the frustrating times, even when he’s tired and things get tough.

Fill my husband, Lord, with the power of the Holy Spirit, with the knowledge of Your will and with all wisdom and understanding for this will yield patience in my husband (Proverbs 19:11) and so that he may live a life worthy of the Lord and pleasing to Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that my husband will have great endurance and patience and giving joyful thanksgiving (Colossians 1:9-12a).

As my husband is one of God’s chosen, holy and dearly loved by God, I pray he clothes himself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing up around others with these traits and forgiving just as Christ forgives (Colossians 3:12-13a).

I pray my husband is not hot-tempered which stirs up conflict, but instead, is the one who is patient and calms a quarrel (Proverbs 15:18). Even when my husband thinks he needs to charge a situation like a warrior, it is better he is a patient person, one with self-control because then he will conquer the situation (Proverbs 16:32).

I know it is frustrating for my husband when he does what is right and good and yet those who live in unrighteousness and do evil are rewarded for their sins. I pray my husband be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him and that he does not fret when people succeed in their ways and carry out their wicked schemes (Psalm 37:7) because through all this a patient endurance is being developed in my husband (2 Corinthians 1:6). Thus, I pray, he be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near (James 5:8).

Prayers for his self-control

Thank you, Lord, that the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and discerns the thoughts and intents of the heart (Hebrews 4:12). May Your Word pierce my husband and may he hide Your words in his heart that he might not sin against you, Lord (Psalm 119:11).

You have said in Your Word, that one who is ruled by the Spirit is better than one who can take a city and one who does not have rule over his own Spirit is like a city that is broken down and without a wall (Proverbs 16:32; 25:28) Help my husband to be ruled by the Spirit, Lord, walking in Your Spirit daily, moment by moment; build my husband’s walls to impenetrable strength and ever increasing; for God has not given my husband a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline (2 Timothy 1:7). Increase in him the fruit of the Spirit that is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22). As he comes to know Your will and Your ways more each day, add to that knowledge, perseverance so that he will keep doing what is good and right, so that he will become effective and productive in his faith (2 Peter 1:5-8).

I pray my husband lives by the Spirit, is led by the Spirit and not according to the flesh, laying aside his old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit and lack of self-control, but putting to death the deeds of the body so that he might live (Romans 8:13; Ephesians 4:22). And, I pray that my husband does not let sin reign over him, nor obey its lusts, and that he is not an instrument of unrighteousness but that he is dead to sin, but alive to the righteousness of God (Romans 6:12-13).

I pray God that You would give my husband an athlete’s mentality, one who exercises self-control in all things as he trains for the race You have set before him and help him, Lord, to run in such a way that he is disciplined, keeping his body under control, so that he is not disqualified, but may finish the race for the eternal prize and You are glorified (1 Corinthians 9:24-27).

Father God, I pray my husband would be a workman who is worthy of that which You have called him to do. Remove any traits that are overbearing or quick tempered; may he not give in to drunkenness, violence, or pursue dishonest gain; rejecting ungodliness and worldly passions, but instead, I pray he is hospitable; one who loves what is good and upright, holy and self-controlled, temperate, worthy of respect, holding firm to Your trustworthy ways and awaiting his blessed hope (Titus 1:7-9; Titus 2: 2, 11-12).

Lord, our enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (2 Peter 5:8). Make my husband strong, spiritually awake, alert and self-controlled, standing firm, and steadfast in faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet, so that he may be able to resist the devil’s evil schemes (2 Peter 5: 9-11; 1 Thessalonians 5:6-8).

I pray God my husband has a love for You instead of the world or the things in the world because all that is in the world —the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. Help him Lord to live each day with awareness that the world is passing away with all its desires, but whoever does the will of God will live forever (I John 2:15-17).

I pray my husband is a wise man with a wise heart who instructs his own mouth and persuades his own lips, and guards his mouth and his tongue, and holds his temper in check rather than be a fool who always loses control and always loses his temper and thus, guards his soul from trouble (Proverbs 29:11; Proverbs 16:23; Proverbs 21:23).

And Lord, You say that it is not You that tempts my husband because You cannot be tempted by evil. I pray my husband is not tempted nor drawn away by his own lust, nor that he be enticed by his own evil desires because it is this that leads to sin and death. Rather Lord, give my husband strength to flee from lusts and temptations and to run toward righteousness straight into Your arms (James 1:13-15). I pray Your Word of truth over my husband. Amen.
